Sucker for Barbarianism

You see, some childhood readings could stick to you in ways that even stick to your adulthood.

That's what I felt right now as I waited for my turn to download Conan comics from some link in Rapidshare. Because I was not into paying the service, it asked me to wait (and wait again) each time I want to download the series that was originally published by Marvel Comics -- well, someone scanned all this pages and then uploaded them.

Actually, Conan the Barbarian is a character in books. And I know that this might be constituted as illegal. But then, educate me. Please!

I'm a sucker for all things Conan (the Barbarian). That's why I felt envious when the game Age of Conan released. I want to play it. Even if the game not quite live to the expectation.

And what about the next Conan movie? You just have to find another one to fill for Conan. The Governator Arnold S. is just not fit into the role anymore.

But I definitely will watch it!



I just hope that I won't be dissapointed the way I watch The Last Stand.

Iron Man! The Mandarin! War Machine!

Sekali lagi aku browsing ke salah satu website majalah favoritku, Wired, dan sekali lagi aku merasa pusing.

Bayangkan, mereka membahas banyak aspek seputar Iron Man, komiknya, produksi filmnya. Juga tentang sekuelnya, Iron Man2, diman kemungkinannya kita akan diberikan kisah tentang munculnya The Mandarin yang dalam versi komiknya mengumpulkan dan menggunakan The Ten Rings of Power (Hello? The Ten Rings pemimpin milita pembunuh di dalam film Iron Man?). Dalam episode kisah komik yang sama, bahkan seorang War Machine a.k.a. Jim Rhodes (muncul di dalam filmnya) tidak mampu berbuat banyak untuk menolong Iron Man mengalahkan seorang The Mandarin.

Aku tidak tahu apakah apa yang di-summon oleh The Mandarin bakalan muncul di Iron Man 2, kurasa tidak, tetapi membayangkan seorang Iron Man teamed-up with War Machine (sekilas disiratkan di film itu, Jim Rhodes akan memakai kostum Iron Man versi kedua -- yang dipakai Tony Stark untuk tes terbang pertama) vs. The Mandarin!

Aaarggh... Lalu ada kemungkinan kemunduran pekerjaan karena sutradara Iron Man belum deal harga syuting Iron Man 2 ditambah lagi kemungkinan mogok kerjanya para aktor di Amrik sana. Tahun berapa ya film ini bakalan rilis?

Perisai Captain America bisa dilihat sekilas saat adegan Pepper Potts pertama kali melihat Tony Stark sebagai Iron Man. Hmm.... Apakah adegan ketika Tony kesulitan membuka kostumnya biarpun sudah dibantu robot di lab?

Lalu, mungkinkah Brad Pitt menjadi Thor di film The Avengers (The First Avenger: Captain America, 2011 and/or The Avengers menampilkan Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man).

So, last night I finally watched Iron Man movie.

Kind of nagged me a bit, about the consistency in the movie and that Vanity Fair reporter being appeared in too many scenes. I mean, showing in a charity party bringing pictures of a small village of Gulmira? How can a small village like that mentioned in too many news coverage? IT IS a small village, didn't you think?

Just to make connection of why a Tony Stark/Iron Man would rush to Afganishtan and start pummeling down the viscious armed ragtag Ten Rings? And Yinsen of Gulmira? Hello? As a lecturer about integrated circuit in a convention that can perform surgery??? He must be the only one multitalented hick I ever saw in a movie!

And how come Miss Potts drive the same Audy with license plate STARK 4 to the Section 16 of the Stark Industrial complex with all the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents while (I thought I saw) at the same time the car sit on Starks garage/workshop?

And how come Colonel Nick Fury become a black skinned badass Samuel L. Jackson? Why didn't they put another actor for that role? What Avenger initiative? Are we going to see movie crossovers? Web-slinging wall-crawling Spidey is a temporary Avengers, you know.

And how come I didn't see The Mandarin -- or anything resembled Chinese tyrant -- in the movie? And no mention about the other Nine Rings (of power)?

Will There Be An "Iron Man"?

Aku pernah menulis tentang betapa aku mengagumi karakter hero Marvel yang satu ini. Soalnya menurutku, superhero seperti ini masih mungkin untuk benar-benar diwujudkan -- apalagi bila dibandingkan dengan mutan yang rasanya impossible!

Lalu aku membaca artikel tulisan Prof. Kakalios, pengarang "Physics of Superheroes" (salah satu buku must read bagi fans fisika dan komik superhero Amerika), tentang bagaimana seorang Iron Man belum akan bisa diciptakan dalam beberapa tahun ini.

Artinya, seorang Iron Man belum akan ada wujudnya?

Sigh...

i dig iron man

since a teen, i always fascinated by this one Marvel's character: IRON MAN.

actually, the first IRON MAN comic book that i read was the last episode of the ten rings of power where he battled THE MANDARIN and unleash all his suit's power through the tings that MANDARIN wear to exterminate all the dragons - thus render him (IRON MAN) immobile and near death.

i mean, it was such a cool body armor! all the feature that were there in that armor suit and the shape itself, really got me held in awe.

and i love the colors too! red and yellow. my second favorite color combination.

anyway, i'm eagerly waiting for the summer release. i hope that the movie won't dissapoint me -- unlike DAREDEVIL or GHOST RIDER.
